Larry E. Ross is a licensed clinical social worker, certified addictions counselor, certified stress counselor, crisis intervention specialist, and an assistant professor. He has over 20 years of experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient chemical dependency programs, male adolescent group homes, clinical social services agencies, educational institutions, outpatient mental health facilities, private agencies, and private practice. He has conducted numerous local and regional workshops/seminars on topics of substance abuse, stress management, parenting skills, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, and mental health. Mr. Ross received national recognition for his work as a drug education specialist with youth involved in the National Youth Sports Program at Kennedy-King College. He is distinguished as a recipient of the Outstanding Alumnus Award related to Governors State University’s Social Work program; he received the “Distinctive Imprint Award,” from the National Association of University Women; he was selected to “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” for the years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006; he is included in “Who’s Who in Black Chicago”; he holds the honor as the distinguished professor for the years 2004-2005; and he has received numerous other awards and recognitions. Mr. Ross is currently a tenured faculty member at Kennedy-King College; where he developed and coordinates the Addictions Studies program, and he teaches addictions studies, social services, and mental health courses. Furthermore, he served as president of the faculty council at Kennedy-King College, from September 2002 to May 2004; and from 2004 to 2006 he held the position of assistant to the chair of the chapter union at Kennedy-King College. Also, he is the advisor to the college’s Student Social Work Club. In addition, Mr. Ross has membership with professional associations, community organizations, and advisory boards. Plus, he is the chairman of the board of directors for Emages, Inc., an agency that provides services for sex offenders, the chemically addicted and persons who have various emotional/psychological disturbances. Moreover, he serves as chairman of the board of directors for Hardin House, a recovery home for women recovering from chemical dependency. Due to his dedicated involvement in a variety of activities, Mr. Ross has made several appearances on television & radio; and, he has been featured in print media. |
